Davíðsgjá & Silfra – two fissure dives in Þingvellir
Both Þingvellir fissures in one day: Davíðsgjá first, then Silfra.
Þingvellir National Park has two fissures that we dive. Silfra is the famous one, with visibility that can pass 100 metres. Davíðsgjá is bigger and darker: it starts on land, opens into an underwater canyon beneath the lake and is often almost empty.
On this tour you dive both on the same day, Davíðsgjá first, and can decide for yourself which you prefer.
85,000 ISK per person · 2 guided dives · Full day, up to 8 hours · Pickup in the capital area
All dive equipment, including the dry suit, and the national park fee are included.
Dive 1 – Davíðsgjá: the hidden giant
We begin at Davíðsgjá. Unlike busy Silfra, it is often almost deserted. After swimming out from the shore, you descend into a magnificent underwater fissure with towering rock walls and enormous formations, and the scale of the site is hard to appreciate until you are inside it. Where the cold glacial water meets the water of the lake, the halocline makes the view shimmer.
In our experience, around half of the divers who visit both sites prefer Davíðsgjá for its size, atmosphere and sense of exploration. Read more about the Davíðsgjá dive site.

Dive 2 – Silfra: between the plates
Our second dive is Silfra, one of the world’s most famous freshwater dive sites. Explore narrow passages, dramatic rock formations and exceptionally clear water as you dive through the rift between the North American and Eurasian plates. The water stays at 2–4°C all year.
The two fissures lie in the same rift but feel very different, which is the reason to dive both. Read more about the Silfra dive site.

What divers say
“We did the classic Silfra and Davíðsgjá fissure dives in one day. The operation is run by very skilled and local sdi/tdi instructors from Iceland.”
David S. · Google, July 2026
“Both dives were excellent, and completely different from any other dive site I've seen! Highly recommend the private tour or smaller groups, beats being in a big group and eating someone else's fins all day!”
Clint S. · Google, 2023
“Amazing Tour. Very relaxed. Siggi does an amazing job to get you to dive site, equip you with proper gear … and also makes amazing pictures on the dive. Totally pro!”
