Silfra – one dive between the continents

Half a day from Reykjavík and one guided dive in the clearest water we dive.

Silfra is a fissure in Þingvellir National Park, in the rift between the North American and Eurasian plates. It is filled with glacial meltwater that has filtered through lava rock, and in good conditions you can see more than 100 metres. The water is 2–4°C all year, so you dive in a dry suit.

Most divers who come to Iceland want to dive here, and it suits anyone with a dry suit certification or at least 10 logged dry suit dives.

40,000 ISK per person · 1 guided dive · Half day · Pickup in the capital area

All dive equipment, including the dry suit, and the national park fee are included.

The dive

After a scenic drive to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, your guide introduces the dive site, explains the dive plan and helps you prepare your equipment.

Underwater you follow the fissure between the North American and Eurasian plates, between towering rock walls in extraordinary shades of blue. The dive takes in some of Silfra’s most famous sections, including the narrow passages, Silfra Hall and Silfra Cathedral. Visibility can exceed 100 metres in good conditions, and the water stays at 2–4°C all year, so this is a genuine Icelandic dry suit dive. Read more about the Silfra dive site.

“We did the classic Silfra and Davíðsgjá fissure dives in one day. The operation is run by very skilled and local sdi/tdi instructors from Iceland.”

David S. · Google, July 2026

“Both dives were excellent, and completely different from any other dive site I've seen! Highly recommend the private tour or smaller groups, beats being in a big group and eating someone else's fins all day!”

Clint S. · Google, 2023

“Amazing Tour. Very relaxed. Siggi does an amazing job to get you to dive site, equip you with proper gear … and also makes amazing pictures on the dive. Totally pro!”
