Silfra – One Dive Between the Continents
Silfra Diving Experience: one of the clearest freshwater dive sites in the world.
Experience the underwater world of Silfra, one of Iceland’s most famous dive sites, in the heart of Þingvellir National Park. Silfra lies in the rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and its crystal-clear water, dramatic rock formations and extraordinary visibility make it a true bucket-list dive.
Join Icedive for a guided dive in this remarkable underwater landscape, with pickup at your hotel in the capital area and all the equipment you need.
40,000 ISK per person · 1 guided dive · Half day · Pickup in the capital area
All dive equipment, including the dry suit, and the national park fee are included.
The dive
After a scenic drive to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, your guide introduces the dive site, explains the dive plan and helps you prepare your equipment.
Underwater you follow the fissure between the North American and Eurasian plates, between towering rock walls in extraordinary shades of blue. The dive takes in some of Silfra’s most famous sections, including the narrow passages, Silfra Hall and Silfra Cathedral. Visibility can exceed 100 metres in good conditions, and the water stays at 2–4°C all year, so this is a genuine Icelandic dry suit dive. Read more about the Silfra dive site.
