Davíðsgjá & Silfra – Two Fissure Dives in Þingvellir
Dive Þingvellir: two spectacular freshwater dives in Iceland’s famous tectonic rift valley.
Discover two extraordinary underwater landscapes in Þingvellir National Park, where crystal-clear groundwater fills dramatic fissures formed by the movement of the Earth’s tectonic plates.
This tour combines the world-famous Silfra fissure with Davíðsgjá, a larger, quieter and less-visited dive site that many experienced divers find just as impressive.
85,000 ISK per person · 2 guided dives · Full day, up to 8 hours · Pickup in the capital area
All dive equipment, including the dry suit, and the national park fee are included.
Dive 1 – Davíðsgjá: The Hidden Giant
We begin at Davíðsgjá. Unlike busy Silfra, it is often almost deserted. After swimming out from the shore, you descend into a magnificent underwater fissure with towering rock walls and enormous formations, and the scale of the site is hard to appreciate until you are inside it. Where the cold glacial water meets the water of the lake, the halocline makes the view shimmer.
In our experience, around half of the divers who visit both sites prefer Davíðsgjá for its size, atmosphere and sense of exploration. Read more about the Davíðsgjá dive site.

Dive 2 – Silfra: The Bucket-List Dive
Our second dive is Silfra, one of the world’s most famous freshwater dive sites. Explore narrow passages, dramatic rock formations and exceptionally clear water as you dive through the rift between the North American and Eurasian plates. The water stays at 2–4°C all year.
Together the two dives give you two very different perspectives on this extraordinary geological landscape. Read more about the Silfra dive site.
